Federal and government military employees are required to have security clearance in order to perform their military jobs. Security clearance is what allows an employee to access secure information that otherwise they would not be allowed access to.

There are three levels of security clearance: Confidential; Secret; and Top Secret. If you're looking to start a military career, there is a lot entailed. Below is information about checking a military career security clearance.

Confidential

Confidential military security clearance allows the employee access to basic information only.

Secret
Military Secret Security Clearance allows the employee access to information that could cause serious damage to national security if released to the public.

Top Secret
Top Secret Security Clearance allows the employee access to information that could cause grave damage to national security if released to the public.

To validate the security clearance of an military employee, send an email to that person. Label this email with the security level of the employee, which would be either confidential, secret, or top secret.

The email will be transmitted through the directory. If the email is returned to you, then that means that the employee's security is no longer valid. If it is not returned, then that means it passed through the directory. Your next step would be to check the certification authority to confirm that it has a digital signature. This will confirm the employee's identity by tracing the signature to the employee's email address, domain name, and IP address.

Now you will use Isode. Isode is the database that stores all security clearances. Here you can validate the employee's security clearance by the date it was issued. For example, a confidential security clearance is valid for fifteen years from the date it was issued. A secret military job security clearance is valid for ten years from the date it was issued. A top secret security military job clearance is valid for five years from the date it was issued. To find out information about starting a military career, search online today!
