A military engineer is responsible for all engineering requirements of the armed forces both in war and peace. It is a military engineer’s duty to operate and maintain engineering equipments like heavy machinery, weapons, and vehicles.
Military engineers may also perform certain civilian and environmental duties which include disaster relief, flood control, environmental maintenance, and wetland restoration, and various other such projects. Engineers with military experience are also employed by private and government contractors who need their specialized expertise for their projects.
To become a military engineer, a degree in engineering and construction work is required. A military engineer should have excellent mathematical and analytical skills. A military engineer is also trained as a soldier, and should be willing to support the army in challenging and unpredictable situations.
