Responsibilities
Serve as a Technical Lead (GS-12) or Senior Technical Lead (GS-13) within the Technical Support Branch for the Army Corps of Engineers New England District.
Provide technical and administrative management to both in-house and Architect-Engineer (A-E) contractor designed projects.
Projects areas are in construction, maintenance, alteration, and repair, and for special projects or studies.
Lead multi-disciplinary design teams of disciplines including; architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and structural engineering.
Manage Architect- Engineer contracts to design projects for military, civil works, and other customers.
Provide administrative/ management functions such as scope and budget development, funds control, contract analysis, contract negotiation, contract administration, and project scheduling.
Responsible for controlling, guiding, and coordinating the design of civil work and military projects.
Assignments may include large scope projects with accelerated schedules, unprecedented problems, and /or include elements which are often difficult to reconcile.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Education Requirements: All applicants must meet one of the following education requirements
Basic Requirement for the Architect 0808 Series:
A.
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in architecture or in a related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.

B.
Combination of Education and Experience: College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by at least one of the following: (1) Related Curriculum - Degree in architectural engineering provided the completed course work in architectural engineering provided knowledge, skills, and abilities substantially equivalent to those provided in the courses specified in statement A above, or (2) Experience: 1 year of experience in an architect's office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture. In the absence of any college courses, 5 years of such experience is required. This experience must have demonstrated that you have acquired a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional architecture.
Basic Requirement for the Civil Engineering 0810 Series, Mechanical Engineering 0830 Series, and the Electrical Engineering 0850 Series:

In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience Requirements:
GS-12
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as meeting two of the following: (1) coordinate design of civil engineering projects; (2) monitor progress of civil engineering designs to ensure they are on time and within established budget; (3) provide input on engineering project management plans; and (4) ensure design project plans are in compliance with established policies and guidance.
GS-13
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as meeting four of the following:(1) provide technical support on Architect-Engineer (A-E) contractor designed projects; (2) coordinate design of complex civil engineering projects; (3) monitor progress of civil engineering design projects to ensure they are on time and within established budget; (4) participate in review of design submittals to ensure accuracy of work; (5) provide engineering advice to stakeholders; and (6) provide input on engineering project management plans.
Selective Placement Factor:
This position requires one of the following: (a) current state issued Professional Engineering Registration (P.E.) or (b) current state issued Registration as a Professional Architect. You must include a copy of your current (not just the initial Registration) Engineering, or Architect license with your application package. If you fail to provide a copy of your current state issued Engineering, or Architect registration your application packet will be found incomplete.
