This National Guard position is for a GS-0203-07 HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY), Position Description Number D1547000 in FAC 110000 and is part of the MO HQ Missouri Air National Guard.

APPOINTMENT FACTORS: : This position is a Temporary vacancy NTE One Year in the Excepted Service. Employment can be terminated at any time. This position can be filled up to four years as long as funds are available to support it. This is a non-bargaining unit position. In the event a permanent (Tenure 1 or 2) employee is selected, and is willing to accept the temporary appointment, that employee will relinquish permanent status. Under a temporary appointment, the employment is subject to termination at any time.

Performs clerical and technical work assignments involving difficult and challenging problems and involve results, decisions, and recommendations which significantly affect the military career of individuals.

Interviews personnel to obtain data needed to complete actions, or obtains data from previously completed files and records.

Constructs and/or reviews initial service records. Maintains/reviews service records for accuracy.

Establishes, maintains, and reviews all required forms, records, and files pertaining to assigned work.

Reviews and analyzes records and reports on fraudulent enlistments, assignment or schools with special requirements, removal from active or inactive status, conviction by civil authority, selective retention, and awards and decorations.

Analyzes case information, outlines options, and recommends appropriate action. Researches and provides explanations and interpretations of rules, regulations, procedures, and requirements pertaining to actions taken or recommended.

Provides clerical support to ensure efficient office operations.

Uses judgment to answer recurring questions and resolve clerical and administrative problems.

Maintains and administers multiple support budgets for the State Headquarters.

Receives, inputs, monitors, and records all expenditures.

Receives, obligates and disperses funds for accounts. Reconciles and audits accounts.

Processes orders to include preparation, publication, distribution and tracking of civilian and military travel orders; annual training, special training, and other orders, to include special authorizations.

Reconciles the orders process with the workday accounting program to ensure validation of orders requirements to include workday management.

Performs other duties as assigned.

This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement.

Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Individuals on incentive bonuses may be subject to recoupment or termination, contact the State Incentives Manager at Whiteman AFB at (660) 687-7394 or at St. Joseph at (816) 236-3339 for any questions concerning recoupment or termination.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination.



Since the position is temporary in nature, the compatibility requirements will be waived for a period of time not to exceed one year. Selecting official must verify that selected individual is currently assigned to a military unit in the Missouri National Guard and that the selection does not create grade inversion.

Maximum Military Grade - MSgt (E-7)

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess clerical or administrative experience, education, and/or training which demonstrates your ability to search for and compile information/data, process documents, provide information about regulations, procedures and programs; and using computer and automation systems.

GS-07 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 12 months of specialized experience in one or more areas of Air Force military personnel operations including experience in making person-to-person contacts to explain regulatory, procedural, and policy requirements. Experience processing transactions of an unusually complicated nature, such as Career Enhancements, Customer Service, Employment, Relocations, and Readiness, and preparing reports using data from various source documents and in accordance with prescribed guidelines.
