TECHNICIAN VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION

Indefinite Appointment/Temporary promotion not to exceed two (2) years. The purpose of the appointment is to backfill a deployed Soldier. This appointment will be terminated within 30 days of return of the incumbent to the position. Due to the immediate needs of the agency, the selected applicant must be available to start within 30 days from HRO approval.?

DUTY LOCATION: Field Maintenance Shop #8 (FMS #8), Windsor Locks, CT

JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to plan, schedule, control, and monitor the status of equipment maintenance; and to assist a higher-graded Production Controller.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard.

AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION:

Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Army National Guard.

Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the Connecticut Army National Guard.

Responsibilities

The major duties include, but are not limited to:

Establishes plans, schedules, and controls the maintenance and repair of a variety of vehicles and equipment such as combat vehicles, heavy-duty engineering and mobile equipment, tracked vehicles, towed and self-propelled artillery, communications and electronic equipment, guided missile systems, and small arms.

Studies directives, modification work orders, and regulations as to their application in the unit.

Designates and maintains current maintenance repair priorities by Force Activity Designator, pacing items, Equipment Readiness Codes (ERC) A, B, and C equipment type, available funds, commander's priority, state/national priorities, (in the case of floods, fires, and mobilizations) and unit supported.

Provides assistance to ensure that Modified Table of Organization and Equipment (MTO&E) or Table of Distribution and Allowances (TDA) reportable Line Item Numbers (LIN) are properly managed, reported and accounted for with respect to readiness reports, property accountability reports and system management.

Analyzes repair methods and recommends control procedures to ensure that accomplishment of programs meet priorities and deadlines established by higher authority or support activities.

National Guard Membership is required.

Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement.

Wear of the military uniform is mandatory.

Direct Deposit is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Must possess a valid state drivers license.

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: For an indefinite appointment which is to backfill a deployed technician, MOS and unit of assignment are waived for 18 months following assignment. However, rank requirement must be met to avoid grade inversion. For temporary promotions, the MOS and unit remains with the permanent position from which temporarily promoted.

MILITARY GRADE (Prior to Application): Enlisted: E-4 through E-6

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: ECMF: 91, 92, 94; EMOS: 88M

UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT: Any unit within the state

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a security clearance (Secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience which indicates the candidate can reason in quantitative terms, communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, understanding the terminology and data pertaining to repair operations and process characteristics of the production activity.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 12 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience working with people from various levels and backgrounds.

Experience with a general knowledge of the functions and procedures of production control, records, references, and techniques for developing production control data.

Experience assisting or maintaining workflow.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Practical knowledge of production control procedures and operations sufficient to collect, compile, correlate, and maintain production data.

Comprehensive knowledge of policies, regulations, and processes governing production control operations to carry out established production assignments.

General knowledge of equipment, such as, combat vehicles, armored personnel carriers, towed and self propelled artillery, engineer and power generating equipment, tactical vehicles, etc., to correct and analyze a variety of routine production data and processes, prepare production schedules, prepare reporting data, etc.

No substitution of education for specialized experience.

MILITARY INCENTIVES - BONUSES AND STUDENT LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM: If you are selected for this position, you may lose your eligibility for your National Guard Enlistment/Reenlistment Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (incentives). In order to avoid losing your incentive eligibility, you should check with your serving incentive manager (CTARNG-G1 or CTANG-Retention Office) prior to accepting an offer for the position. For M-Day/Traditional personnel who are currently receiving incentives to include Bonuses and the Student Loan Repayment Program, the following termination rule applies:

Incentive Termination without Recoupment: If you accept a Military Technician (Mil Tech) Permanent position where membership in the National Guard is a condition of employment, your bonus will be terminated with no recoupment as long as you have served at least 6 months of the bonus contract following receipt of the initial bonus payment.
