Summary

THIS IS A TITLE 32 EXCEPTED DUAL STATUS POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (ENTARCH), Position Description Number D2358000and is part of the 130th Engineering Installation Squardron located in Salt Lake City, with the Utah Air National Guard. This vacancy is RESTRICTED to current military members of the Uah Air or Army National Guard. The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is Capt Amy Bocage. This is a 3 year appointment subject to the return of the holding incumbent.

Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Responsibilities

As a IT SPECIALIST (ENTARCH), GS-2210-7/9/11, you will:

*This position requires knowledge and conceptual understanding of existing and theoretical enterprise architectures with the expertise and highly developed communication skills to bridge the gap of understanding when communicating technical solutions to customers at various levels of leadership.

*Specific responsibilities include translating customer requests for capabilities into IT requirements, conceptual planning, integrating technology sources Government Off The Shelf, Commercial Off The Shelf (GOTS/COTS) into high performing, fully integrated IT enterprise solutions.

*Provides IT engineering and installation services to DoD, MAJCOM, NGB and base level customers.

*Performs IT architectural design and engineering work for complete IT systems, downward directed programs/systems, Internet Protocol (IP)-based systems and circuits, one-of-a-kind systems, routine upgrades, and system enhancements.

*Produces IT architectural installation project packages.

*Directs activities responsible for system analysis and design, programming, operations and maintenance, security, systems management, technical support, plans, implementation, and resource management.

*Configures, installs, maintains, reconstitutes, removes, relocates, overhauls, and modifies IP-based systems, circuits, and intrusion detection systems, physical and wireless Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), ground radio, satellite, and telemetry communications, command and control, weather, ground aircraft control and warning radar systems, air traffic control radio, meteorological and navigational aid systems, and airfield systems and other equipment platforms.

*Configures, installs, maintains, reconstitutes, removes, relocates, overhauls, and modifies IP-based systems, circuits, and intrusion detection systems, physical and wireless Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), ground radio, satellite, and telemetry communications, command and control, weather, ground aircraft control and warning radar systems, air traffic control radio, meteorological and navigational aid systems, and airfield systems and other equipment platforms.

*Conducts on-site engineering surveys to gather specific project information.

*Prepares reports on maintaining, installing, repairing, removing, and siting of IP-based systems, circuits, and intrusion detection systems, physical and wireless Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), ground radio, satellite, and telemetry communications, command and control, weather, ground aircraft control and warning radar systems, air traffic control radio, meteorological and navigational aid systems, and airfield systems and other equipment platforms.

*Manages implementation and project installation and ensures architecture, configuration, and integration conformity.

*Develops, plans, and integrates base communications systems.

*Conducts on-site IT engineering assistance visits as required.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: THIS IS A TITLE 32 EXCEPTED DUAL STATUS POSITION.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Compatible Military Assignments: 3D190, 3D8X2, 3D1X3, 3D1X7, 3C8X2, 8C890.

For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Medical screening will be completed upon selection for hire.

Soldiers who accept a technician position will be terminated from the Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP).

Indefinite positions may be converted to permanent status without further competition.

National Guard Membership is required.

Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

GS-07 - Do you have 12 months experience, education, or training in translating detailed logical steps developed by others into language codes that computers accept where this required understanding of procedures and limitations appropriate to use of a programming language. Experience interviewing subject-matter personnel to get facts regarding work processes, and synthesizing the resulting data into charts showing information flow.

GS-09 - Do you have 24 months experience, education, or training in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency.

GS-11 - Do you have 36 months experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.
