About the Position:

This is a military technician position with the US Army Reserves. Becoming a Military Technician allows you to experience the best of two worlds by taking advantage of the opportunity to become a Citizen Soldier in the US Army Reserve Military Technician program. This enables you to receive full civil service benefits and military reserve benefits. Military Technicians are a vital link between the US Army Reserves and civil service and are one of the most important keys to combat readiness.

Responsibilities

Formulate budget and cost estimates to support command plans, programs, and activities.

Review control and report obligations and expenditures.

Develop, determine, and interpret budgetary policies and practices.

Provide advice on effective and efficient means for the acquisition and use of funds to support command programs and activities.

Compile and formats statistical data for various Command and higher echelon reports and studies.

Prepare budgetary progress and summary reports.

Present and defend budget estimates before fund reviewing and granting authorities.

Review and evaluate budget requests for apportionments and allotments.

Occasional travel - The business travel requirement is 10%.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analytical, technical, and administrative duties in one or more phases of budgetary process, such as guidance, budget justification, presentation and development of budgetary guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

This position is a term position and may be extended in increments of 1 year to reach a maximum of 6 years.

This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service and employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
