About the Position:
Performs a wide variety of Maintenance Worker duties involved in the operation, maintenance and repair of facilities, equipment, structures, buildings and grounds, requiring the use of various trade practices. Is assigned to the Heavy Capacity Fleet Unit located in Louisville, KY. Which is part of the Regional Rivers Repair Fleet.

Responsibilities
Perform a wide variety of duties involved in the operation, maintenance and repair of facilities including equipment, structures, buildings and grounds, requiring the use of various trade practices.
Make repairs that can be accomplished by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts and components; or assisting higher-graded mechanics in disassembling, repairing, and assembling major systems, components, and operating mechanisms.
Construct, maintain, repair and alter exterior and interior surfaces and structures built of a variety of brick, block, stone, and related masonry composites.
Perform general carpentry work associated with maintaining buildings and grounds.
Independently rig for lifting small and medium-sized loads. Under the direction of the lift supervisor, rig for lifting heavy objects where multiple riggers are used.
Assist in installing and repairing various pipe lines and fixtures. Join, seal, and test systems and equipment for proper pressures, leak-free joints, and operation. Maintain existing plumbing systems including water closets, fixtures and drains.
Operate overhead shop cranes and various forklift trucks and mobile lifting equipment including man lifts.
Operate pick-up and stake bed trucks to transport construction materials and spare parts as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision. I have performed various maintenance duties under close supervision such as rough carpentry work, machinery repair, sandblasting and painting, pipefitting, equipment operations, concrete maintenance and repair. I operate heavy equipment to include but not limited to: overhead cranes, skid steers, dump trucks, aerial lifts, and forklifts to safely and accurately maneuver supplies and materials to accomplish repair, replacement or creation of projects. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Makes repairs on equipment or in installations often on high or hard to reach areas from ladders or platforms. Is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds, and operates equipment.
Working Conditions: Works outside the majority of time in all types of weather. Is subject to injury by tools, equipment, flying debris, and similar objects. Is exposed to mud, dirt, dust, chemical compounds, high noise levels, burns, and fumes. Is subject to danger of falls and drowning while working on moving equipment and structures over or on water. Works behind bulkheads below water level, characteristically works on or adjacent to water. Occasionally works at heights over 30 feet.
