About the Position:
The Headquarters, United States Military Entrance Processing Command (US MEPCOM), North Chicago, IL, is a joint service command under the direction of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Military Personnel Policy and is staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 65 Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services.

Responsibilities
As a Test Administrator, you will be responsible for:
Conduct specified aptitude examination sessions at various high schools to determine individual ability in preparation for career exploration.
Conduct specified aptitude examination sessions at various locations to determine individual qualifications for enlistment into the military service.
Distribute, collect and sort all test materials ensuring confidentially and security of test materials is maintained.
Brief applicants on completing forms and on testing procedures.
Resolve problems and issues during the testing sessions.
Conduct advance coordination with school officials and facility managers to facilitate proper testing environment.
Review applicant test admission forms for completeness and to ensure applicants are authorized to enter examination area and test.
Prepare test session/applicant packages for processing/mailing to appropriate office.
Conduct test sessions utilizing paper and pencil and/or computerized test formats.
Travel Required
76% or greater - This position requires 100% business travel within a 200 mile round trip radius of your duty location.

This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires a personnel security background investigation.
This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state issued or US territory issued driver's license.
This position requires the incumbent to use their own reliable, privately-owned vehicle for travel to/from your testing locations.
This position requires the incumbent to be able to lift boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
This is an INTERMITTENT position that consists of work performed on an irregular basis with no preset tour of duty or definite hours (i.e. not regular part-time nor full-time. Incumbent is scheduled as needed). Pay depends on actual hours worked.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. General experience
is defined as: Progressively responsible clerical or office administration experience. Examples of qualifying general experience include but are not limited to: Conducting thorough checks to ensure forms are properly completed; Distributing and collecting materials while accurately accounting for those materials; Orally presenting basic instructions to individual and/or groups and ensuring their understanding of instructions; Utilizing automated systems to provide reports/information to others.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Education Substitution for General Experience
for GS-04: You may substitute general experience with two (2) full academic years of undergraduate education above the high school level from an accredited college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (Note: You must provide a copy of your transcripts in your application package.)
Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for General Experience
for GS-04: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of undergraduate education by 60; or your quarter hours of education by 90; or your business, secretarial or technical school total weeks by 72. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. For further information, visit: ****In order to qualify for this position, based on your education, education substitution, or combination of education and experience, you must have either completed the education requirement, or will complete this requirement within thirty (30) days from the closing date of this announcement. If you will not complete this requirement within thirty (30) days of the closing date of this announcement, you will be rated as Not Qualified for this position.
